Fuchs Foundation Antarctica Expedition 2010

Tim Miall - 'Sir in Antarctica'

Welcome to the Website for Tim Miall, Physics teacher at Twyford C of E High School, Acton

In Autumn 2010 I will be swapping the classroom for the glaciers of Antarctica for 6 weeks, travelling with an educational charity called the Fuchs Foundation. Our base camp will be in a largely unexplored region of the continent and we'll be carrying out Scientific research, which can then be filtered down to students. This will be the second Fuchs foundation trip to Antarctica for teachers and we will be the only privately funded scientific expedition in Antarctica.

LATEST NEWS - www.ruggerzone.com announced as kit sponsor

I am delighted to announce www.ruggerzone.com as kit sponsor and supplier of travelling kit for the Fuchs Foundation Antarctica expedition.  It is a huge thrill to have such an impressive kit manufacturer on board and I would personally like to add my gratitude and thanks.

Steve Lawrence of www.ruggerzone.com presents travelling kit to Tim Miall of the Fuchs Foundation expedition:

A word from our sponsor:

Ruggerzone - everything for the game of Rugby

Ruggerzone sells everything a player needs, from boots to headgear, from shoulder pads to shin pads, and Rugby balls to kicking tees.

Ruggerzone supplies custom rugby kit, by Tsunami Sportswear, to schools, colleges, and clubs, as well as teamwear for other sports, and branded clothing for corporate clients.

At Ruggerzone we believe that schools and local sports clubs are the cement that keeps communities together. So Ruggerzone supports grassroots sports clubs through sponsorship, and kit supply agreements, and supports key charities by making regular donations from profits to good causes.

Ruggerzone is proud to be associated with the Fuchs Foundation’s Antarctic expedition; and wishes the expedition members well, as they embark on this uniquely challenging adventure.

Inspiring teachers............Changing lives

Sir Vivian Fuchs showed a generation of school children a sense of curiosity, self reliance, self determination and challenge.

In his memory, the Fuchs Foundation will inspire future generations by sending young teachers to the Polar Regions to do scientific projects in hostile environments.

Science and Geography are perceived as dull subjects and hard work. The Fuchs Foundation challenges this perception, aiming to revive the sense of excitement, adventure and thirst for knowledge within young people.

No one forgets an inspirational teacher and the Fuchs Foundation believe the key to that is challenge and experience; giving young teachers the opportunity to break free from the constraints of their normal safe existence and inspire them through expedition work that tests their mental, physical and emotional resources. These experiences then in turn provide each individual with a life changing experience and will help inspire their tea
